Multi Integrated Support (MIS) Ethiopia is an Ethiopian residents’ charity registered with the Charities and Societies Agency (CSA) in 2010. MIS Ethiopia has been working poor, marginalized and hard to reach communities with a strategic focus on women and children to achieve self-reliance and improve the quality of their lives. The major focus areas have been the economic and social empowerment of women, education, health, Water Sanitation and Hygiene and environmental protection. Although, MIS Ethiopia implemented different projects the major interest of the organization is to bring about community empowerment, social transformation and child protection.
The direct target groups of MISE are poor & marginalized women, needy children, MARPs for HIV/AIDS and other communicable diseases in Benishangul Gumuz, Amhara, Afar, SNNPR, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela and Ethiopian Somali National Regional States and Addis Ababa City Administration. Currently, MISE focuses its programme attention on 12 Woredas of our intervention regions. The reason to focus on the
MIS Ethiopia is a young and progressing organization but, recorded remarkable achievements in its thematic areas. The development of women micro-enterprise more than 1200 women and girls have been reached through the 12 established Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Saving and Lending Associations(VSLAs) based on the existing situations in our project sites. Thus these women and girls were able to initiate or expand their preferred lines of micro-enterprise operations. IGA groups are organized and get intensive trainings on Basic Business Skill Training (BST), Life Skills and leadership before engaged in small and micro businesses. Improving the saving culture and entrepreneurship are the pillars of this component. Then to boost the IGAs of our target women Business Development Service (BDS) and access to micro credit is provided.
MIS Ethiopia as a development actor has a huge interest and stand that development will come when a nation has literate and enabling environments in schools. Our education programmes are child centred, pro participation and involvement. MISE targeted five primary schools in Addis Ababa and implemented Integrated quality education promotion projects which incorporates life skill (World Starts With Me), Student Led School Sanitation and Hygiene (SLSSH), protection of violence on school children by creating reporting and responding mechanisms in the schools. These projects ensured the participation of children in aspects to institutionally help their efforts to make their school violence free, clean & sanitized, build their self confidence and academically excellent performers. This project was a pilot project and MIS Ethiopia is planning to replicate to other schools. In line with this MIS Ethiopia is currently undergoing sponsoring school children to get scholastic materials, tutorial class and access to reference materials from individuals and committed organizations.
Currently MIS Ethiopia is implementing projects in Benishangul Gumuz National Regional State, Metekl Zone Bullen Woreda in collaboration with Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)/Sweden Embassy to Ethiopia through Mothers and Children Multisectoral Development Organization(MCMDO). The projects focus on Improving community awareness on Reproductive Health (RH), Access to rural financing, livelihoods diversification & food security and capacity building & partnership with local structures. In Addis Ababa MIS Ethiopia is implementing quality education promotion (Life skills, WaSH and child protection) and child sponsorship projects in selected five schools in partnership with CSSP and Plan International Ethiopia through Mothers and Children Multisectoral Development Organization(MCMDO).
